Cookie policy – Nzbankbets
Only a handful of technical tools run behind the pages of Nzbankbets, and this policy names each one. A cookie is a small text file saved in a browser; local and session storage entries and counting pixels act in a comparable way and fall under the same description.
Governing law
The Privacy Act 2020 applies when a cookie or similar tool collects personal information, and its information privacy principles (section 22) set the terms. Collection must have a lawful purpose connected with operating the site (IPP 1), and people are informed what is collected and for what reason (IPP 3). Reasonable security safeguards are required (IPP 5), retention must not exceed need (IPP 9), and passing information outside New Zealand is subject to IPP 12. Wherever the banner offers a choice, it may be changed at any moment.
Necessary files
A few files are indispensable to the site’s reliable operation: they keep a session going, divide traffic between servers, protect forms from abuse and store the banner answer. No separate choice is requested for these. A session file ends when the browser closes; the stored banner answer is kept for twelve months at most.
Optional files
Display settings, for example the table opened last, are remembered by functional files. Analytics files count page views and reveal which pages are read, so that content improves. They are placed only after the banner has been answered. IP addresses are shortened for analysis, and no profiles that follow behaviour across different sites are assembled.
Services from outside
Outside content such as a video or a map may set files itself, and that provider’s own privacy terms then apply; an objection is directed to that provider. Nzbankbets places no advertising cookies for personalised ads unless the banner gives a clear choice.
Changing a choice
A choice can be altered or withdrawn whenever wished through the "Cookie settings" link in the footer, and withdrawal takes effect for the future. Browsers also let their users block and delete cookies. After necessary files are deleted the banner reappears, and certain features can be unavailable for a moment.
Complaints
Complaints about the handling of personal information go to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner. The privacy policy of the site describes that handling in detail.
